What did you think of Congressman Dold? What about Brad Schneider's staffers? Check out the following links and respond to this 10th Congressional Race! Daily Herald 1 Daily Herald 2
I found it hilarious that Dold is proud of supporting Civil Unions because a gay couple should have the right to live with each other while they're in love, but he doesn't support gay marriage why? Lemme get this straight, if two people are in love, they should be able to live with each other, but can't get married? What? Why is American even still debating over this? It's the 21st century! I thought we'd be far over something so trivially simple. Also, I can see why Schneider might not have been able to make it that day, but it didn't help his case any. When his representatives we're late, it only made him look worse. They never even managed to grasp my full attention after the first 3 minutes of "hello"s. When you've got less than 10 minutes, get to the point!
I think that Dold had a large upper hand over Schneider in trying to convince students to like him, because he had went first and had much more time to talk. I also feel like Dold may have been playing up how moderate he was and how he would be willing to work with democrats to appeal to the more liberally biased district. Schneider also said in an ad (mentioned in the "daily herald 1" article above) that he would be willing to work with republicans, too. Based on this, it looks like both of the candidates are willing to work with anyone, so for voters it is going to come down to what they would prefer: a moderate republican, or a moderate liberal.
I liked Congressman Bob Dold’s speech. I thought it was very interesting and I learned where he sides in some matters. I was also surprised to learn that he was very moderate and had very mixed views. I kind of liked the speech of Bad Schneider’s staffers. I was a little confused on the information they presented because they had a big time constraint and very rushing through their speech, so I didn’t really understand much of their speech. I also think that the 10th Congressional Race will be interesting because both the candidates are very moderate, so seeing who will be elected will be an interesting event.
Hi everyone! My name is Mrs. Bertola and I have been teaching at WTHS for 13 years. I am currently teaching AP Government and am excited to continue our classroom discussion on Blogger.com. I live in Illinois with my husband and son--but I am originally from Wisconsin and LOVE all WI sports teams. I went to Lake Forest College and played basketball there. I coached girls b-ball for 10 years but took a break from it after my son's birth.
You will learn a lot more about me as the year goes on!
